What you need to know
Human corona viruses were first identified in the mid-1960s. There are seven coronaviruses that can infect people. One of them is the Novel Coronavirus 2019-nCoV. It belongs to the group of beta coronavirus that causes an acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS.
UVC-light and ozone are very effective in inactivating bacteria and viruses and are widely used for water, air and surface disinfection. For a true disinfection a certain UVC-dose or ozone concentration are required. That is why the UVC and ozone disinfection units are specified by a water and air flow or by an irradiation time for the surface.
The Novel Coronavirus 2019-nCoV can be inactivated only by a relatively high UVC-dose or a high ozone concentration. In the case of an air flow such a UVC-dose or high ozone concentration can be provided only by units with a high UV-power. The same is valid for the surface disinfection. Very often the UVC-units offered on internet shopping web sites do not provide a true disinfection, and make false claims about their effectiveness because of incorrect specification of the UV-power and so the users can be misled. You should therefore only rely on a specialist. Please feel free to contact us.
